Command line
docksmith devices [--cfgutil PATH]docksmith probe (--device NUMBER | --ecid VALUE) [--cfgutil PATH]docksmith helpRun these with swift run docksmith from the repository root, or invoke a built docksmith executable directly.
devices lists a transient number and device type for each currently connected device. A nonzero cfgutil discovery status can still yield a decoded list; the CLI prints a warning because that list may be partial.
probe requires exactly one selection. --device NUMBER uses a number from devices; --ecid VALUE selects an exact device identifier for callers that already have one. Avoid placing identifiers in shared terminal logs, issue reports, or screenshots. The CLI discovers again before reading and fails if the chosen device is no longer present.
The probe prints JSON with backend, deviceCount, inventory, and layout. Each check has a state of supported, unavailable, or indeterminate; count and warning are optional. inventory.count is the number of decoded app records. layout.count is the number of Home Screen pages, excluding the Dock. A successful decode with a nonzero cfgutil status remains supported but carries a warning that the result may be partial. An absent or malformed response is indeterminate; a reported device error is unavailable.
Reports omit identifiers, app records, and layout contents. The CLI writes no local report. It makes read requests through cfgutil and has no device-changing command.
